New 8TB G-Raid taking long time to zero.

Postby willybk3 » Dec 21st, '13, 09:51

As a regular practice, I always zero a new drive to find and mark bad sectors. I started the process last evening at 17:00, it is now 11:40 and it states that 8 hrs. still remain to finish. I know that these larger drives / partitions do take a long time, but is this long normal?

Hi willybk3,

Thanks for posting. Doing a secure erase of drives can take quite a bit of time. Doing this for a 8TB unit can take in excess of 24 hours.
Regards
