How respond to Raid 1 Drive Fail

Postby diatom » Dec 1st, '13, 12:40

G-Raid Mini in Raid1 configuration.
What happens when 1 drive fails? Is unit operable on remaining drive for emergency data recovery? Or can one simply power down, replace the defunct drive & carry on? Is there a procedure sheet??

Hi diatom,

Thanks for posting. In a raid 1 configuration of the g-raid mini if one drive failed that would be indicated by the red light that blinks when you first turn on the drive becoming solid. With one drive failure in a raid 1 the other drive will still mount to allow you to access the data. The drives are not designed to be user replaceable and opening the case would void any warranty on the unit. If one drive fails after you have copied the data off you can send in the unit for replacement if you are within warranty. You can file a RMA from our websites support section.
Regards
