Back up hard drive

Postby Jimmy » Nov 23rd, '13, 11:42

When I attach my G drive mobil usb to my Mac it appears on my desktop and brings up a time machine window. The little white light also flashes. Does this mean it is backing up everything on my Mac to the G drive? It did not ask me to do anything. Is it automatically done?

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for posting. It sounds like you have already done the first setup of the drive with time machine. Time machine will backup to the drive automatically. It will backup any file changes made since the last backup. You will see the time machine symbol in the menu bar at the top of the screen. (clock hands with a looped arrow around it) The looped arrow around it will spin while it is backing up to the drive. You can find out a lot of basics on time machine here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
