Drive shows in Windows 7 on one machine, not others

Postby toddhol » Jun 22nd, '13, 12:21

I have 2 G-Drive mini 750s formatted for both windows and mac. On the comp on which they were formatted, connected by USB 2.0, the disks appear under My Computer. They are healthy, readable and writeable. However, when connected via USB 2.0 to other machines running the same OS, the drives do not appear under My Computer. In Disk Management, the drives appear as unknown disks and windows wants to initialize them. In Device Manager, the drives appear as Ext Hard Disk USB Mass Storage. It says the device is working properly and the driver is up to date. So what gives? Why can't I access the files on the external drive?

Hi Todd,

Thanks for posting. Since you said My Computer I take it the computers are running Windows XP. Are the drives formatted into exfat? If so some Windows XP computers require an update for exfat support that you can download from Microsoft. Let me know if you have any more questions. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=19364
