4TB DOA ?

Postby Gutty » Jun 13th, '13, 13:25

Last week i got a new 4TB G Drive, plug it in via FW>TB adapter and get nothing. Doesn't show on desktop, can't access it from anywhere on either my mac or PC. Tried changing to the USB cable, no different.
I have finder preferences set to show HDDs on the desktop, running OSX 10.7 something or other(updated to 10.8 last night.

Is it just a case of a DOA product ? O r am i somehow doing something wrong ?

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

Thanks for posting. If the drive is not showing in disk utility or system report on the mac, it simply can't see the connection and may be a bad unit. Conversely on the pc you would use disk management and device manager to check for the drive. If within return period I would recommend returning or exchanging the drive to the vendor it was bought from. Otherwise it could be warrantied though our website. http://prod.g-technology.com/support/warranty_rma.cfm.
Regards

Thanks Dustin, the unit was only a week old, and has been returned to the Australian distributor.
