Mirror one external 4TB to another 4TB external?

Postby limborocks » Jun 3rd, '13, 10:47

I have 2 external 4TB hard drives. One is for media storage. I would like to backup, actually mirror those files to another external GRaid drive.

Using an iMac and first drive is connect directly to the computer and haven't hooked up the second until I know my configuration.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting. You can set up a mirrored raid using disk utility. Below is a link to a page from apple with instructions on how to set it up. Keep in mind even with a mirrored raid when you set it up it will format both drives. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2559

Thanks Dustin.

I guess I need to repeat myself. This is an external drive that stores my graphic files. I would like to mirror that EXTERNAL hard drive to another EXTERNAL hard drive.

These 2 EXTERNAL drives do not have any files and my computers hard drive.

From what Apple said, their utility does not mirror 2 external hard drives, only the INTERNAL hard drive, which I don't want.

Return to G-RAID
