G Drive Mini causing registry leaks

Postby mnorman » Apr 30th, '14, 17:03

I'm getting the following 1530 warning in event viewer on shutdown:

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

DETAIL -
5 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-2987587682-1074968332-1067063631-1001:

Volume 3 is my G-Drive Mini. When I switch it off, I don't get the above. When it's own and I shut down, I do get the above. Clearly the drive is causing the warning.

Hi mnorman,

Thanks for posting. Based on what I have found the most common cause of that error is anti-virus or internet security softwares. You may want to run a clean or diagnostic startup with only the basic system services running with the drive attached to see if you anti-virus might be trying to scan the drive while the computer is attempting shut down.
