G-Drive 4TB errors

Postby chopper » Mar 17th, '14, 17:59

I have a G-Drive 4TB 5G and it consistently becomes read-only in firewire. Firmware update does not work, keeping the drive spinning doesn't work. My time Machine is failing and now out of date.

You have not been able to fix this problem. I bought the unit on the strength that I can use the transfer rate of firewire not USB 2.0.

Can I please return the unit and have my money back?

Thank you

Hi chopper,

Thanks for posting. In most cases if the problem persists after the firmware update it can be resolved with a SMC and PRAM reset. If it still persists after that we can see about replacing the drive under warranty. The only way for a refund would be through the vendor it was purchased from within their return period. Here are links on how to perform the SMC and PRAM resets.

SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
