Can G-RAID TBolt "pass through" data when powered off

Postby inacube » May 2nd, '13, 09:44

Wondering if the G-RAID can "pass through" data of any kind when powered off, as I understand is possible.

I'm going to have a Thunderbolt daisy chain of
laptop <-> G-RAID <-> Apple external display
and am wondering if I will be able to power the G-RAID off, and still have use of the display.
Thank you -

Hi inacube,

Thanks for posting. Yes a thunderbolt display will function in a daisychain passing through our thunderbolt drive while off. Mixing brands may not give you the same results if you start adding to the chain. I cannot guarantee the result if you use an adapter such as displayport to dvi as this is legacy and has not been fully tested with our products.

Thanks. If I have a mini-displayport Apple Cinema, has that been tested?
So would be
laptop <-> G-RAID (RAID0) <-> G-RAID (JBOD) <-mini-displayport->Apple Cinema Display (few yrs old)

display port should work fine as it is not a signal conversion.
