My G-Drive 2TB wont mount on my MacBook Pro OSX 10.9

Postby MarchingAntsUSA » Nov 12th, '13, 18:46

I've been to the Apple store genius bar. They could see my G-Drive 2TB on the left side of the disk utility, and they tried to repair it that way but couldn't. They told me I needed to buy an adapter at Best Buy, open up the hard drive, and retrieve my files that way.
I'm not a techie so instead, I took it to a Mac repair store and they want to charge me $1,300 to retrieve my files.

Is there any software I could buy to retrieve the files myself?

Hi MarchingAntsUSA,

Thanks for posting. Since the drive is visible from disk utility, as long as you are not getting any rhythmic clicking or grinding you should be able to recover the data with a third party software. The main one I would recommend is Data Rescue 3. It normally runs $100 dollars but we are partnered with the company that makes it so you can get it at a prorated rate of $75. You can also try a demo of the software to make sure it can see the files and will allow you to recover one file to ensure the integrity. At that point it will prompt you to purchase the software. I will include links to the demo and the prorated purchase page.
