USB 3.0 G-Drive Mini

Postby northwesternpat » Apr 11th, '14, 11:01

I have 10 of these USB 3.0 G-Drive Mini's just purchased new about 2-3 months ago. Now that I'm getting around to using them and moving off the USB 2.0 ones. I have two edit machines with Asus Rampage IV Extreme Motherboards that both support USB 3.0+ Charging as well.

However hooking the devices up to USB 3.0 on either box they just make an awful sound but they still appear to be running.

I've tried this with all other USB devices unplugged except mouse and keyboard as well as tried USB 3.0 Powered Hubs. Is there a known issue with Asmedia USB 3 controllers which are found on the Asus Motherboards?

Hi northwesternpat,

Thanks for posting. So when the drives are plugged in they make an odd noise but are still recognized by the computer? What kind of noise it is making? I am not aware of any issue with g-drive minis and any asus motherboards or controllers.
