Connecting G-Drive Mini with Mac G5 Systems

G-Technology places a high value on the quality of our products and we want our customers to always expect that our products meet your expectations.  Recently, it has come to our attention that a limited amount of G-Drive Mini external hard drives may experience a problem when connected to some Mac G-5 systems through the Firewire port.  On select G-Drive Mini models, a capacitor on the Firewire bus may fail causing a popping noise and emit some smoke. The smoke is actually the dust from the capacitor that escapes the unit after it pops.  We have traced this problem down to a small batch of units built after January 1 and before April 30, 2010.  We understand it is very concerning to hear a pop and see the dust, however the hard drive and the PCB board are still fully functional and the G-Drive mini will continue to operate normally.  If you have experienced this problem or are concerned about your unit, please contact our technical support to determine if your drive is affected by this issue and how to get a replacement if needed.  If your drive has this issue, we will gladly arrange a replacelent at no charge to you.   Rest assured that we have corrected this problem, and all new G-Drive Mini built after April 30th, 2010 will not be affected by this issue.  Thank you for your continued support of G-Technolgy products.
