How much space will I have available in RAID?

 

RAID 0

Setting a multi drive unit to RAID 0 gives you access to the full storage space (ie. an 8TB unit will have approximately 8TB of available space). The negative of RAID 0 is that there is no backup/redundancy of any type. If one or more drives fail, all data will be lost.

RAID 1

Setting the unit to RAID 1 will give you two Mirrored RAID sets with a total capacity of 50%, and each set is data protected from a single drive failure.

RAID 5

Setting a multi drive unit to RAID 5 requires one drive for redundancy (ie. an 8TB unit will have approximately 6TB of available space). While available space is reduced, data is protected from a single drive failure.

RAID 6

Setting the drive to RAID 6 will give you two drive redundancy for a total capacity of 50%.

RAID 10

Setting the drive to RAID 10 will give you two drive redundancy for a total capacity of 50%.
