I want to use the G-Speed eS with my MacBookPro, What do I need to know?

If you want to take advantage of the RAID functions of the G-Speed eS, you will need to use it on a MacPro (Intel Based Only) or a PC with the PCI-e raid controller card that we ship with.

If you want to use it with your laptop on a port multiplier card you can. However, disk utility will see four independent drives in which case you would need to use the Disk Utility application to strip or mirror the drives to your preference. Please be aware that you cannot make use of the RAID functionality.
If at any time you connect the drive to our card that may have been installed and setup on another system, your settings will still apply.

However, If you go the other way let's say you set up a raid with our card and utility application then moved it over to a port multiplier card such as FirmTeks’ 2SM2-E with the latest firmware on a laptop, you may see the same information come up on four drives.

We don't recommend doing this because if you make changes to one drive and then move it back to a MacPro with our raid controller, that information will not be protected or even be brought across.
The best thing to do is pick one system and stay with it. We suggest using the PCIe raid controller card for the best protection on a MacPro (Intel Based)
