How do I change the RAID settings on my G-RAID Gen 7 Removable (MAC)?

Plug your G-RAID Gen 7, preferably on USB or FireWire. You will need to download the G-RAID Gen 7 RAID Configurator. Please click here to download the latest G-RAID Gen 7 Configurator. Once downloaded, run the application and refer to the steps below. Keep in mind that changing the RAID settings on your G-RAID Gen 7 will erase all the data on the drive.

  1. Open the file G-Technology RAID Configuration Utility that you downloaded to start the installer
  2. 1-Double-click-instaler

  3. The Welcome to the G-Technology RAID Configuration Utility Installer screen will appear. Click on Continue to start installing the RAID Configuration Utility.
  4. 2-Welcome-screen

  5. The screen below will appear. Click on Continue.
  6. 3-Standard-Install

  7. A prompt will come up stating that you will need to restart your computer after the software installs. Save anything you are doing if any, then click on Continue Installation.

  9. The RAID Configuration Utility will begin installing on your computer.
  10. 5-Software-Installing

  11. Once the installation has completed, you will be prompted to restart the computer. Click on Restart to restart the computer.
  12. 6-Installation-complete

  13. Once the computer boots back up, go to your Applications folder and double click on the G-Technology RAID Configuration Utility.

  15. The screen below will appear. Click on Continue to proceed.

  17. The software would then search for your G-Technology product.

  19. Once your G-Technology product has been found, you will be presented by the different RAID levels you can choose from. Click on the RAID level that you want and click on Configure.
  20. 10-Choose-what-RAID-setting

  21. You will get a warning message saying this will erase all the data on your drive. Click on Yes to continue.

  23. You will get another warning message serving as your last chance that all the data on the drive will be deleted. Click on Yes to continue.

  25. You will get a progress screen while the G-Technology RAID Configuration Utility is configuring the RAID level.
  26. 13-Updating-RAID-setting

  27. Once the configuration of the RAID level is complete, you will get the screen below. Click on Exit to finish the RAID configuration.
  28. 14-Config-Successful

  29. You will now need to format your G-RAID Gen 7 on your Mac. Please refer to the link here to do that. Once you have successfully formatted the drive, you are all set to use your G-RAID Gen 7.
