What is Thunderbolt?

Thunderbolt in an input/output hardware interface, developed by Intel in cooperation with Apple, which allows for external devices to be connected to a computer. Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort, as well as a DC connector for power, in a single connection, passing through a single Thunderbolt cable. You can daisy chain up to 6 peripherals, like storage devices and monitors. You can also connect USB and FireWire devices to the Thunderbolt port, provided that you have the proper adapter, but the speed you will get will still be USB or FireWire speeds, depending on what device you are connecting.
