Formatting and Partitioning the G-CONNECT

Formatting and Partitioning the G-CONNECT

The G-CONNECT comes pre-formatted FAT32 for cross functional platforms, Windows OS and Mac OS. G-Technology highly recommends leaving the G-CONNECT as FAT32.

Due to the limitations of FAT32, you cannot store files larger than 4GB. If you use only Windows or only Mac OS, you can reformat G-CONNECT using the native file system for your preferred OS. Both NTFS (Windows) and HFS+ (MacOS) support file sizes in excess of 4GB.

If you plan to only use in a Windows environment ONLY, you may reformat to NTFS.

If you plan to only use in a Mac OS environment ONLY you may reformat to HFS+. However, when choosing the partition scheme for the way you use the disk, select Master Boot Record.

NOTE: The GUID Partition table is not supported by G-CONNECT.
